The Olive Leaf Retreat grew from a simple desire to reconnect with the land and create a space where others could do the same. After years in busy city jobs, we found ourselves craving something slower, more meaningful, and rooted in nature. What began as a light-hearted dream—“one day we’ll start an olive farm”—quickly became a real plan, and eventually a new way of life.
Not long after starting Wattle Hill Olives, we realised we wanted to share more than just our cool-climate extra virgin olive oils. We wanted to share the feeling of being here: the quiet mornings among the trees, the scent of the grove after rain, the sense of calm that comes with looking out over the hills and breathing in fresh Tasmanian air.
The Olive Leaf Retreat was created to offer exactly that. A place where guests can unwind in nature, connect with the rhythms of a working olive grove, and experience the warmth and generosity that inspired us to build this life. Whether you’re here to rest, explore, or learn a little about the craft of olive growing, we’re grateful to welcome you into our story.
Our retreat sits within one of Tasmania’s oldest olive groves, and you may see us out among the trees or hear the gentle hum of farm life. This is all part of the authentic rural charm that makes a stay here so special — a blend of tranquillity, nature, and the quiet rhythms of a working farm.
While we always respect your privacy, we’re more than happy to connect if you’re seeking a more immersive experience. Whether you’re curious about the local area, interested in the history of our grove, or eager to learn how we craft our cool-climate extra virgin olive oils, we’re available to share stories and answer questions.
Guests are also welcome to arrange an olive oil tasting or explore more about our growing and milling process right here on the property. Simply reach out during your stay — we’d love to help you deepen your connection to this place we call home.
Nestled in the heart of Tasmania’s lush North West, the Olive Leaf Retreat sits just minutes from the charming township of Latrobe and a short drive from Devonport’s coastal beauty. This region is known for its cool climate, rich volcanic soils, and rolling green farmland — the perfect environment for producing vibrant, herbaceous extra virgin olive oil.
Beyond the grove, guests can explore riverside walks, boutique cafés, wildlife encounters, and the famous Wild Mersey mountain bike trails. Whether you’re here for adventure, slow-country living, or simply to unwind among the olives, the North West offers a serene blend of nature, flavour, and small-town warmth.
